Title: Mod app n.n
Kitsunaii - May 18, 2008 02:08 AM (GMT)
Which position are you interested in: Mod, Spriter, Artist, or a combination?
Mod! =3
Why do you want to be a Mod, Artist, and/or Spriter?
I like to roleplay alot, and I always hate when nobody replies to my topics. So, I want to be a mod to help people's roleplays along. ((Also, I wish to be able to edit my characters when I give them items or levels X3))
What makes you think you deserve the job?
I am an avid roleplayer, and I'm almost constantly online, even with not having internet. I have good grammar and rarely spell anything wrong, not to mention that I enjoy typing long, descriptive posts.
What experience if any do you have in this area?
I've never been a mod before, but I think I'd do well. I have been roleplaying for years just the same, though.
Example(s):
| QUOTE (RP Example 2) |
Happy as a Blissey, I trotted through the fields. This was it. Today would finally be the day that the Pokémon I had adored for so long would finally become mine! I would make sure of it! Now if only I could find him...
o.o Wait.. I don't remember that tree.... or that bush... ..... ;_; "WHERE AM I!?" |
A dark shape emerged from behind a tree. Said shape had long, pointy ears and a huge fluffy tail. It looked to be a Mightyena hybrid. "Lost, sweetie?" it asked in a feminine voice. She padded towards the femme, a fanged grin plastering her dark face.

| QUOTE (Battle 2) |
Kazu huffed with exhaustion. It looked like this was the end for the Diglet/Growlithe hybrid.. His Sandslash foe had just gone underground, and in a matter of moments he would pop up from who knows where to deliver the final critical strike. Why!? Why couldn't he resist his own type on this field! We was fine fighting other fire-types, but nooo..
Suddenly it hit him. Not the attack, but an idea! Tossing his sarcastic thoughts aside, he leashed his only hope of winning this battle: Earthquake! |
The Sandslash leapt out at the last instant, just as the ground began to shake. It went high into the air and came down on Kazu with a painfully loud cry, slashing furiously with powerful claws.

>_< EW... I was going to... I really was.... The first reply is so-so. Not amazing, but perfectly fine, and certainly better than waiting for replies, and it's good to start building a plot. >__<''' But that second reply....
'^^; Try something a BIT more descriptive/creative/proving technical knowledge for that post, and do another battle mod of a different example. ^__^ I'm sure you can do this, I just want to see you do a bit better on examples, plus it'll help with never having mod experience to do a few and get critique, as it'll help you get more of a good feel for what you'll need going in. :3
By the way- mods can godmod/powerplay too.. xD Except for them its called modraping... Your 'senses your attack abandons its Dig plan avoids the earthquake leaps from the ground and delivers a powerful blow' especially when the player is on his/her last limb is definitely modrape, lol. Now, doing this to a lesser extent can be okay. (Example: Just avoiding the attack would be extremely frustrating, and not the best possible mod more than likely, but if it was just a dodge with no hit, it'd be okay, lol.) Also, severe modding for a post or two can be used as a form of punishment, though shouldn't be resorted to often, lol.

The Sandslash leapt out of the ground to avoid the attack, but it caught its leg on a rock. It was forced to wriggle in vain as the powerful Earthquake hit head-on. The poor creature hadn't even seen it coming. However, Sandslash still had a trick or two up its sleeve... It leapt up into the air, ignoring its bruised body, and came down, all slashing claws and eyes sparkling with the light of battle.
| QUOTE (Battle 1) |
My eyes grew wide as the Houndoom came racing toward me. Try as I may, though, my little Pikachu body could only move so fast. I dodged Matrix style as best I could, still being badly scraped up by that burning bite. The force knocked me completely over, so I finished the somersault out and used my tail to make sure I landed on my feet.
My small hand clutched my side, where I wasn't entirely sure, but suspected I had a bit of burn damage as well. Great.. Just what I needed- a burn from a Houndoom! As if mocking me, she laughed her seductive little laugh. "Had enough, little boy?"
I snarled and growled with frustration, static building in my pouches. "I'll show you! I'll show you all!" She wouldn't make a fool of me! Yelling with anger, I leashed the strongest Thunderbolt I could muster! |
The shock sent the Houndoom flying back to hit a tree. She lay motionless for a moment, then stood back up, shaking it off.
"I will not be defeated!" With the fire of rage in her eyes, she lunged to attack again.. but fell to the ground with a yelp as a rock hit her directly in the back with a sickening snap.
A wierd hybrid in a sickly shade of green fell from the sky then. It turned to the Pikachu, showing that its face was half fur, half stone. "Are you alright?" it asked in a gravelly voice.

>_< *huff* There is an actual formula to the Sandslash one...
<< You seem really reliant on NPCs.. Remember to let the character do things alone sometimes too.
'^^ If you can tell me what you missed on the Sandslash thing and WHY it shouldn't be powerfully attacking (just a tad bit of research, lol), I'll say yes. :3

Um.. it shouldn't be able to tell that the ground is shaking until it's too late..? o_- I'm surprised I haven't fallen asleep yet. I'm lucky to be conscious right now, so I'm sorry for being unable to think clearly...

Hmm...
Do you perchance have XD: Gale of Darkness for the Gamecube? If so, go and check out your Battle Sims, especially the one with Aggron and Machamp. Or check out Serebii's info on XD's Battle Sims.
[/serioushint]
Another hint? The same property goes for when a Pokémon is Flying while attacked by a Gust.

I know about the double damage thing if the foe is using dig, but it's not as though it can't be nearly avoided. I'm not that terribly dense. n.n
Floramei - May 18, 2008 06:51 AM (GMT)
((I only learned about it when I played XD myself. And was fairly well into it. Which makes it mid-06 that I learned that. Recent, considering I've loved Pokémon since GS were brand-spankin' new. I thought it was kinda obscure, personally. So apparently I AM that terribly dense. ^^;
So maybe SG was referring to something else...?))
Heart of Thorns - May 18, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
<< THAT'S what I was going for, silly... Lol. DON'T avoid stuff like that. xD Rofl. And make a point of it doing more damage and whatnot.
Gratzez

Woo! Mod/Spriter/Artist! Can you feel the love?!
