Which should we do as our first tournament?

WIFI:

Arrange various battles via WiFi, with the participants telling us the results to keep track of.
Pros: Fun and challenging, and you get to use your hard-raised Pokémon.
Cons: Not everyone has WiFi, and arranging the battles could be a hassle.


ED CHARS:

Use your characters (not as part of their journey) to RP battle a tourney, making it both a writing contest and a battle skill contest.
Pros: Easy to arrange, and you get to use your uber charries.
Cons: Risk of godmodding, and battles between less active members could take ages. Members with legends or ubers have an unfair advantage.


RENTAL

A trainer-style RP battle between members. A list of several rental Pokémon will be given, and members will choose any 3, 4, or 6, depending on what style we decide to do. At that point, the members will decide which moves and abilities they want their 'mon to have, giving everyone the same options, but the best strategists the advantage.
Pros: Easy to arrange and loaded with strategic goodness. >x3
Cons: Risk of godmodding, and battles between less active members could take ages.


To try to cut down on less active taking forever, we may do 'timed' battles, where if no one wins within so many posts, the ref calls the fight and determines the winner.

So what do you guys think?

Also (to ensure you reply instead of just voting... >:3) what should the prize be?

So yeah, I chose rental battle, mostly for the randomness and that the odds are more even.

I would suggest as a prize two ultra rares, so that everyone has a reason for joining the tourney :evil:.

I was torn between rental and ED chars, but I voted rental. I miss RPing with humans sometimes. ^^

And as for the prize... um.. ^^' Either like, an Ultra rare or two, a really good unique item, or maybe some kind of purebred/hybred you can't normally get? I dunno.. ^^'

I think it should be Wi-Fi battles because you can see how hard the people trained their pokemon, and you can also get to know that person better/making you stronger.

hm... I think the prize should be... well i'm not sure, I think it would just be fun.

Either a rental or ED characters battle sounds good to me.

The prize should be the DNA of some legendary, awarded based on how well they posted during the comp. I.E. The winner who posted very simple sections gets a weaker legendary than a winner who posted very detailed sections

The "rental battle " sounds nice. And for winner maybe a hybrid of 2 Pokemon that are not normally mixed (like Seel and Electrike or Growlithe and Pidgey)

I considered that, actually. (Though Seel and Electrike ARE compatible, lol.) An incompatible hybrid would be a prize indeed. It's actually written somewhere around here that it IS possible in VERY rare cases. It was more intended as a true love despite incompatibility thing, but meh. :P We can only have one first tournament, so that seems rare enough to me! I'll do that as an option too. ^.^
